IT'S EASY TO BE GREEN

Since we opened for business in 1991, we have been the go-to company for clients wanting to set themselves apart from their competition in the marketing world. Part of our commitment is to bring to the table creative, innovative marketing designs and programs that will give our clients the “edge” in their marketplace. In this spirit, we would like to illustrate yet another factor that sets us, and the clients we serve, apart:

Our commitment to our environment.

One of the biggest challenges in the printing industry is to manage resources wisely while continually improving performance. To that end, we have selected print vendors that allow us to have a positive environmental impact. And just how green are they? Let us show you the ways!

OUR PRINT VENDORS PAPER & WASTE MANAGEMENT

  • They have reduced the unavoidable production waste of paper and chemicals and will continue to seek ways to further reduce such waste.
  • They segregate, re-use and recycle the waste unavoidably produced in the production processes.
  • Waste paper and spent printing plates are collected for recycling, as are spent chemicals.
  • They invest in the latest production equipment which is more efficient and less wasteful of materials in the first place.
  • They use Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified papers, which means the paper comes from renewable and well-managed resources and we use papers that are either fully or partially recycled content in all of our finished product

GREEN TECHNOLOGY

Innovations in technology have changed the way printing presses run. In addition to traditional presses, our print vendors have heavily invested in digital technology to cut down on the use of chemical processing that used to be a hallmark of offset printing.

Offset Press Large Format - Komori 40” Lithrone 10-Color Capability
Kodak press plating system used to produce large volume run custom postcards is direct to plate from Kodak, eliminating the need for chemicals and film in the making of the printing plates. The inks are Soybean-based TOYO SF Offset Process Inks. They are Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified for this press operation, indicating that the woods used to make the product comes from a forest which is well managed according to strict environmental, social and economic standards. Oh, and they use coated gloss cover sheets that are recycled content meeting the strict guidelines of the FSC as well.

Offset Press Small Format - Heidelberg QM46 2-Color Capability
They use a computer-to-plate Polyester plating system for this press, which carries green, eco-friendly aspects—including lower image energy requirements and chemical solutions containing additives that eliminate accumulation of calcium, does not contain chrome or phosphate and has very low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emissions. The plates are 100% recyclable once used. They use alcohol-free fountain solutions and require very little “make-ready” paper once on press, eliminating much of the traditional waste associated with short-run printing. They are able to use a variety of inks on this press, including soy, cottonseed, sunflower, linseed, and canola oil based inks. And, they can use any number of available recycled papers, the sky’s the limit.

Digital Color Press Short-Run Format - Two Xerox Docucolor 8002AP
These two, state-of-the-art digital color presses have revolutionized the way the print industry runs material, all for the benefit of the environment. There are no printing plates involved, the process is direct to print, eliminating the need for many of the substrates that create waste. These presses also use an eco-friendly toner whose cartridges are recycled. The paper choices are varied, always contain recycled content, and, since the presses are designed to print just what you need, no more, no less, there’s an environmental benefit in all of the printing and set-up we don’t do with these machines.
